Reba McEntire has donated $60,000 to a school in rural Spavinaw, Okla., that faced a severe budget gap. The school educates 130 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and had faced a 22 percent budget cut from the previous year. School board president Guy Alloway told the Tulsa World newspaper, “We were $60,000 in the hole.” Alloway said he tried to contact the offices of several celebrities to solicit donations and called a phone number listed on McEntire’s website. After several calls to confirm the dire situation, Alloway said a $60,000 check, as well as a $1,000 anonymous donation, arrived on Oct. 13. McEntire is an Oklahoma native.

The Recording Academy — dispenser of the Grammy awards — honored Loretta Lynn with an affectionate but astonishingly brief musical tribute Tuesday night (Oct. 12) at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Hosted by Reba McEntire and featuring performances by Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Kid Rock, Gretchen Wilson, Lee Ann Womack and Lynn herself, the show ran for only 45 minutes.
The tribute was the second in the Academy’s Salute to Country Music series. Last year’s honoree was Vince Gill, who, unable to attend, greeted Lynn via video. “I don’t know of anybody who’s more important in the history of this music or the history of this town than you,” he said.
McEntire sashayed onto the stage in a black cocktail dress and got the show rolling with a rousing rendition of Lynn’s cheeky 1967 hit, “If You’re Not Gone Too Long.”
“The whole world knows and loves the coal miner’s daughter from Butcher Holler, Ky.,” McEntire asserted as she moved into her hosting role. “I’ve loved her since the first time I heard her on the radio.”
McEntire praised Lynn for being a groundbreaking feminist.
“Loretta Lynn took on the controversial subjects in country music no one else would touch,” she proclaimed. “For Loretta, no subject was off limits.”
As an example of that daring attitude, McEntire cited Lynn’s 1975 recording of “The Pill,” a paean to the liberating aspects of birth control. Although some radio programmers resisted playing the song, it nonetheless went Top 5.

Reba McEntire has revealed the track listing for her upcoming album, ‘All the Women I Am,’ due in stores November 9. The legendary performer’s 34th career studio album will include her lead-off single, ‘Turn On the Radio,’ which is currently sitting in the Top 15 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart. Over the past week or so, Reba has been giving her fans a first-look at the tracks appearing on the record via her Twitter page.
The collection will also feature her cover of Beyonce’s hit, ‘If I Were a Boy,’ which Reba first performed on CMT’s ‘Unplugged’ a few months ago, as well as ‘Somebody’s Chelsea,’ which she co-wrote with Liz Henberger and Will Robinson.
In choosing the songs for ‘All the Women I Am,’ as well as all of her previous albums, Reba relied mainly on one thing: pick great songs. “That’s the key,” she explains. “No matter how great you can sing or how many people can work the song for you, you’ve got to have that great song. I mean, it’s got to be honest and true and just a great song.”
A deluxe version of the collection, which includes her AOL Sessions performance, the ‘Unplugged’ performance of ‘If I Were a Boy’ and behind-the-scenes footage of the video for ‘Turn on the Radio,’ as well as the video itself in its entirety.
Reba is currently on the road with George Strait and Lee Ann Womack. Their next scheduled tour date is in Pittsburgh, Pa., Thursday, October 14. Check out her full tour schedule here.

I usually don’t add magazines scans such as National Examiner but this isn’t really a gossip story. They did a feature of Country Music Stars tragedies and the 1991 Plane Crash was one of them. So I went ahead and added that one and added CW Scans for September 20, 2010 which only feature Reba talking about Brooks & Dunn’s Farewell.

I’ve added the new issue of CW with George Strait on the cover…it shows behind the scenes of Reba’s new music video “Turn On The Radio” and talks a little bit about the tour with George! I’m hoping that CW starts putting more Reba in them as the last few hasn’t had her in them. But I hope you enjoy them!
