Reba Reaching Out to Help After Deadly Storms

Weekend storms devastated parts of the South and some of the biggest names in country music are reaching out to lend a hand.

Award winning actress, country music superstar and American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet member Reba McEntire, a resident of Nashville, has donated $100,000 to the Nashville Area Red Cross Chapter, and encouraged social media devotees to text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the flooding.

Reba knows the importance of being prepared for the unexpected and also recorded public service announcements to educate people about how to be prepared for tornadoes and hurricanes.

Reba extends her tour with George Strait

George Strait will extend his tour with Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack into the fall although no list of cities or dates has been announced. The tour will stop in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday (April 8), Kansas City, Mo., on Friday (April 9) and Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday (April 10). They will also play the Alamodome in San Antonio on May 1. In adding the fall dates, an April 28 stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena has been rescheduled for Sept. 11.

Several Oklahoma stars are among the first group of performers announced today for the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Host Reba McEntire, who grew up in Chockie; Brooks & Dunn, which includes former Tulsan Ronnie Dunn; and Carrie Underwood, who was bred in Checotah, will be performing at the April 18 awards show.

Blake Shelton, who was born in Ada and lives in Tishomingo, and Trace Adkins will perform together; the stars last week scored a No. 1 hit with their duet “Hillbilly Bone,” which is nominated for an ACM trophy.

Other performers announced today for the awards show are Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney.

The ACM Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 18 on CBS.

Reba McEntire will return to host the Academy of Country Music Awards for a record 12th time. She is nominated for top female vocalist of the year. McEntire has won 12 Academy of Country Music Awards.

Keep On Loving You Album Certified Gold

Reba McEntire’s latest album, Keep On Loving You, has been certified gold for shipments of 500,000 units. Each of McEntire’s studio albums since 1984′s My Kind of Country have been certified gold or higher. Released by Starstruck/Valory Music Co. in August 2009, Keep On Loving You includes the singles “Strange,” “Consider Me Gone” and her latest, “I Keep On Loving You.” She is currently on tour with George Strait.

Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban will perform at a special farewell event for legendary country duo Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn.

The concert, to be filmed following the Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, will also feature Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum for ACM Presents: Brooks And Dunn – The Last Rodeo.

Brooks And Dunn announced last year they were breaking up after one of country music’s best-selling runs.
